MG4 Software Update Thread

Regards to Blue tooth pairing we have the same problem. Today my wife could not get the MG4 to set off. Stated parking fault on dash. She had to leave vehicle. Lock it and wait 5 min. When she got back in all was well except for her phone had to be
re-paired.
After that no problems.
We have had the car 9 months and the infotainment gremlins drives us nuts. The garage have been good but MG UK are crappie at communicating.
Have stone chip on bonnet, been to 4 paint shops who have turned me away because they can't get the colour code to match the systems they have. Finally managed to get paint code. It's not volcano orange but black and orange. Go figure.

Ah the chincy Chinese shitty software strikes again. Bluetooth has been garbage for weeks since I had R33 installed to fix the digital key issue. It didn't fix it, digital key still doesn't work. Also, I plugged it in yesterday using the granny charger and it didn't even charge overnight. Couldn't go into the office this morning. They're all as bad as eachother though, even my old EV6 was plagued with software bugs.
Just for anecdotal reasons, if anyone is tracking, my new car (22nd June delivery) went in yesterday to have the steering wheel straightened up. Whilst in there, they updated the infotainment from R30 to R33 which they told me was the latest version.

Interestingly, my Android phone now prompt for bluetooth pairing each time. It didn't do that once on R30.

Yes we have been plagued with software issues. But the MG4 is an exceptionally nice drive. It's my wife's car, I have an MG5 LR 22 plate before face lift. No problems so far.

It is lovely to drive, I'll give you that. But I'm sticking to my guns about it being well annoying. Having to disable all the terrible safety systems before setting off is getting a little tedious, especially with the Bluetooth issue thrown in for good measure.

And has anyone noticed that since R33 the vehicle will automatically set back off again without pressing the accelerator pedal or the left button on the steering wheel when in smart cruise control? Is it meant to be doing that now or is that another software issue?

Is the R33 less stable than the R16? Even though I do harp on about no more software updates arghhhh, apart from the temp bug I’ve not had any problems. I am now touching every bit of wood in the house.

Has anyone with R40 commented on any bluetooth problems? Have to say, this is becoming my biggest gripe now - just got the car back post repairs and got a phone call and let our a loud ARRRRGGHHHH

Any feedback on what R33 fixes over R30? I'm still on R30 and the car drives fine but the satnav freezes sometimes and the android auto loses connection either wired or with a wireless dongle (Ottocast), I'm guessing memory leak or similar as the issue goes away when I reset the head unit.

The only main difference I've seen is the screen is way more responsive to presses and moves between menus kors quickly.

Android auto hasn't disconnected on me yet but on R30 used to go completely black. Hadn't happened on R33.

The bluetooth issue doesn't affect me really, other than being annoying. Plug phone in, AA starts, hit cancel on pairing. Music, phone calls all still work without a problem.

Thanks, that's good to know. I have a service booked in a few weeks and I'd like to get R40 but maybe R33 will be good enough.

They told me R33 was the latest right now. Looking around at other comments in the thread, R40 may be available by the time you go in for a service. Let us know if you get it, I'll be back into them with my Bluetooth issues if so!

Do you mean ... the car comes to a stop behind another vehicle whilst ACC is engaged, and then when the vehicle in front moves off the car moves off?

If yes, then mine (SE SR) has always done that (except on the rare occasions where it asks me to press the accelerator).

Mine has always done this, it only asks for accel to be pressed if CC was engaged while at a standstill. I usually press the acc anyway since it can be a little slow to pick up speed.

Will do, I've been following the threads closely so eager to get R40 if it becomes a reality for older builds, which is why I booked in a service for 3 weeks time... hopefully that gives them enough time to get their arses into gear!

So the latest version is now R46 as seen on the models at Goodwood
