Makes me Smile (XPower praise)

Yes on the noise thing, I guess that's aimed at the younger fraternity. I was certainly into all that in bygone times when into classic bike racing, especially when we got away with open megaphones. But nowadays I just love the super quiet drive and I can't help thinking that fake sound is along the lines of a fake orgasm - not the most desirable of experiences!

Price for that?
Instead of 2,now maybe 3 X power’s?
Definitely a niche model, as it says the N is probably all the power you would need, again the basic N is £56k and up, more money would just be getting ridiculous.

The EX30 twin is closer to the X power on all fronts and as the video shows performance is marginally better

Sorry to see that this thread has drifted into a charade of silly comparisons. Let's put things into perspective, my XPower when bought new was cheaper than my Wife's Fiat 500e to the tune of some fifteen hundred pounds, so I fail to understand why some are comparing the bargain priced XPower to grossly overpriced Hyundai Ionic 5.

Not silly comparisons really, the reference to the 5N actually bigs up how well the x power stands up against it.

The suggestions of what MG could have added for a couple of grand more would still leave it as a bargain

The comparison to the EX30 is a direct competitor that is marginally quicker and has the upgrades we wished MG added to the X power, better cabin and materials, better interior lighting, pano roof, Harman kardon sound system.

Not to mention the operating system (which is a separate debate)

Agreed.

For the money, the X Power has no peers.
None.

And that was paying nearly the full bloody retail price!
And for what you can buy a new one now, nothing will come close in value.

We will always compare 0 to 60 etc because that is a real thing you can benchmark.

I know my stereo isn't great.
I know my seats are not the most supportive.
I know my BIG LOOKING BRAKES are fake.
I know my suspension could be better.
I know my interior is not very different to the Boggo model.

I knew all that, but bought the car because I got it at an exceptionally fair price. (And I paid 35k!!)

Performance per Pound, this car has no peers.

I will never again pay more than 40k for a car because of the thieving VED.

So 'want' a Hyundai Ioniq 5N? Yes.

I would definitely like to test drive a 2nd hand one.

Not sure it would come home with me though..... it's just too bloody BIG. (IMO)

No, I've got my hopes pinned on MG Nailing the next generation of X Power.

And if they don't, then I'm more than happy to keep whizzing round in the one I have now, for many years to come.

It's still an excellent all round package.

(Well, perhaps a later one when I eventually win in court)

Agree with everything you say especially regards the next gen x power and the £40k tax, although there is a rumour that may get raised for EVs.

There are some good lease deals kicking about (which isn't for everyone) the twin ex30 is currently cheaper than an x power

The EX30 is just a bit too small in the back and boot for me; and too sparse and minimalist inside (just the screen with no instrument panel or HuD). There's plenty of YouTube videos describing software issues too with early OTA updates. Hopefully they will sort them out over time as the car looks OK and not bad value if you can live with the minimalist interior.

Agree, I did look at an EX30 but didn't like the One big screen and nowt else. That's what put me off a Tesla. I'm More than happy with my X Power. Glad I chose that.
And if you look, you'll find plenty of other makes, that are plagued with software issues. It's not just an MG thing. But obviously we only concentrate on MGs.
🙂👍

Exactly mate, it's easy to forget that all other makes have their faults and problems when we're busy finding and discussing our own, well said. (y)

I set off at a set of traffic lights today in Sport. I didn't engage Launch Control, but holy moly that was some experience. I keep smiling thinking about it. I'm in love with this car
I haven't had occasion to do this yet myself, but I look forward to it with eager anticipation. 😁

3 months in and yet to do a launch.🤔

Must try harder😀

Me too. I'm ashamed to say. 🙄
To be fair though, in sport mode or even in normal mode. You will obliterate 99% of cars. Firstly coz it's so bloody fast and Secondly coz, you take them by suprise, they just aren't expecting it.
But definitely must do a launch, to see what all the fuss is about. 😉🙂👍
