I’ve been ringing round for quotes for a 5th service on my 2020 ZS EV and have differing advise from each dealer. According to the MG website the 5th year service is basic and includes nothing extra. Some dealers have told me the coolant needs changing, others have said the transmission oil needs changing, and others have said both need changing. None of them agree with the service schedule published by MG. Prices range from £220 up to £679!
Has anyone here had a 5th year service on a Gen 1 ZS? If so what was done and how much did it cost?
Some of the dealers are just guessing then and clearly not adhering to the official MG Service / Check Off Sheet that they can print off from their own system !.
This may account for the ambiguous differential in prices, without checking correctly.
There should be NO grey area really, then technician will follow the criteria laid down on the official sheet.
The price you are being charged, should be reflective of the work content and priced accordingly.
Information taken from this official MG sheet, states that the HV battery coolant should be replaced at 5 years OR 75,000 miles which ever arrives first.
I will include a copy of this check off sheet that I alway request completing at the time of service.
I then use the sheet to verify if the work has been carried out to the process.
If it’s ticked, it’s done !.
If it’s ticked and not completed, then why not.
A quick read through the sheet yourself, will give you a good indication of what does and does not need doing at every service interval.
Then you have good reason to challenge the information you are being offered, if you believe it to be incorrect.
The first number in either f the columns refers to the age / service interval due ( 5 in this case ) and the following number ( 75,000 in this case ) is clearly the milage of course, hence 5/75,000
Our car is the Gen2 model, but I pretty sure that it is a generic sheet for both ZS EV models TBH.
Hope this clears up any questions you had
