Anyone wash their car today? ?

I foamed mine at the weekend before heading out for a pleasure drive. It was supposed to be a 15 minute job but the pressure washer was acting up so I had to troubleshoot that and find a way to get the filter cover off without anything sensible to grip it with. All happy in the end though and I only missed two patches on the passenger side, result! 😂

When the weather is nicer it might get more of a wash but good enough is the aim for me at the moment.

So, you know how you set out to do 1 job on your car, but then get a bit side tracked?

It was my intention to simply change my near side tyres around due to the rears being at 4mm and the fronts at 6mm.

(Off side being done tomorrow)

Then.... seeing the state of the wheel arches, thought I'd tackle them whilst the wheels were off.

Then.... while the wheels were off, thought I would remove the old sticky backing from the last set of weights (bugger of a job)

Then.... whilst there, I thought I would wax the inside of the rims.

Then.... just as I was about to remount the wheels, I found the puncture that was letting out about 2psi per week.

Fixed that, then refitted my wheels.

And relax.... Until tomorrow when I'll do the other side and clean the rest of the car.

It’s endless if you want it to be 🤣

I hope MG UK are taking note of the good care you are taking of "their" car when they eventually have to take it back. ;)

I've always handed my cars back immaculate, if ending agreements early etc, that way they struggle to pick you up and charge you anything. 👍

Great finish on the white XPower!

I've had two white cars, both diesel estate workhorses, one a Montego the other a Xantia. Fine when clean and polished but when dirty and dull they just look awful!

In my world, they didn't stay clean for long!

I normally wash the car every week or two weeks, three weeks maximum. But then I broke my ankle on 23 November.

I want to wash it so much now, it looks awful! It's doing my OCD head in!! There's even green growing out from the window rubbers...

Good job Bricktop, you don't have the best conditions for working on a car, but you make it work.

Thanks M8.

Yes, long gone are the days of my wonderful paved driveway and heated double garage since I moved here!! 🤣

Being a practical sort though, I will, and can do whatever I need to do, regardless of my location. (Usually)

Myself and a builder friend are building a garage/workshop here next year in my garden, once he's finished his house. (Fingers Crossed)

Good work there Chris ... puncture repair well worth doing asap 👍

My plan is to sand and paint these ugly areas come the warmer Spring as they show through the alloys quite visibly :-

What colour will you paint them? I think black would look good

The purists (pedants) will say that the repair is not within the "allowable" area (width) of the tyre for doing a repair. Us pragmatists will tell them to take a running jump, as this sort of repair tends to work really well. :)

100% AGREED @siteguru!!

My previous repair on the rear tyre has been perfect.

As have all the many previous repairs I have done on cars and motorcycles in the last few years.

IMO, the 'Too Close To The Sidewall" line, that is trotted out continuously by the industry,

Is in fact just coded language for "Close Enough To Be Able To Rinse Another Customer Of Their Hard Earned Money Who Doesn't Know Any Different" Bollox.

I would be more than happy to do a repair right up to the edge.

Sidewall no.

Anywhere on the tread pattern yes.

Our own personal experience tells us that it is a safe and trusted repair, (when done correctly) and that is all that matters to me.
