MG4 XPOWER
The way Xpower buyers have been treated by MG is totally disgusting, instead of fixing issues with these cars MG have instead dropped the price by 30% in just over 9 months.

I bought an MG4 SE in 2022 and upgraded to the Xpower in 2023, MG will never get another penny out of me ever again.

Rant over ?

Fair enough, your choice. ?

Yup.
Still £36,495 on the MG site.

I'm sure you can get it cheaper at the likes of Carwow.

And if you look around 26k used.

Absolute Bargain!
we do however have up to £5,500 savings across all MG4's at the moment, not just the Xpower, he may just be confused and think it is an xpower only saving

Wouldn't think anyone would pay, the full retail price (£36,495) for an X Power. You can get one on MG Affinity for (£31,800)
Luscombes MG of Leeds have them,
74 reg, for (£27,799) now that's an absolute bargain. ??

Yes around 27k for a new one which we are seeing is a good price.
But it is a sign of how the market is at the moment, i am unsure if prices will rise and stabilize but now is a great time to be a buyer , that goes for any brand i think.

Model Y Tesla £299 per month!

It would more helpful if you explained your experience in more detail, perhaps you have already done that on another thread?

Clearly you liked the car at some point or your wouldn't have upgraded. I am wondering what went wrong?

MG don't read these forums so I doubt this will bother them.

But I am curious: in what way did MG force money out of you in the past? Was it gunpoint, knifepoint, blackmail or just some heavies threatening GBH?

Here goes, first post since joining forum this afternoon!

It’s always hard to predict future prices and manufacturers in general have been taking the proverbial for far too long in keeping EV prices artificially at the premium end the market. The likes of MG have been a disruptor to this but still have a huge margin on UK vehicles over what they sell for in Asia.

The heavy discounting of new vehicles that we’re currently seeing is hopefully part of a wider realignment of the market, albeit I appreciate that doesn’t help existing owners when it comes to resale values. Just have to be philosophical in my mind and be grateful that any losses in owning a MG EV over a traditional ICE model pale into insignificance compared with likes of premium EVs from EU manufacturers. You could have a £120k Porsche that’s halved in value!

Notwithstanding, as someone who’s been doing some serious bargain hunting and test-driven the XPower for the first time a week ago, these are my findings re current cash prices:

- Different paint colours/finishes attract varying additional charges on official price list but seems 50/50 whether the dealers follow list, or just takes the ‘any colour, one price’ approach.
- CarWow has some very good offers, a few dealers settling around the £30k mark and even down to £28.5k
- Affinity offers seem to consistently be around £27.3k
- Dealers will always try to make their best offers conditional upon you paying for add-ons you don’t need. Is a rarity to simply be offered a good price straight off the bat with no strings attached.
- Found a business only deal at £25.5k, which I’ve gone with. Been given a two week delivery time, so fingers crossed.

Will be interesting to see how the wider market plays out in the coming year or so. Also what that might mean for the Cyberster/Cyber GTS looking forwards…

Oh, and whether the energy market starts playing it’s part and reduces those ridiculous public charger fees!

Just want to pitch in on what I am paying for my MG4 Extended Range:
Website price: £36,495.00
With paint selection: £37,040.00
My local dealer discounted price (before paint): £32,172.15
Affinity scheme discount: - £4692.15 (includes free paint)
Test drive discount: - £1000 (test drive voucher | MG Motor UK)
I paid: £26,480
+ I got a further £8,000 trade in on my existing car.

I spoke to 3 different MG dealers. I could have saved another £250, but decided to go with a local dealer (5 miles away), as wan't worth the long journey(s) to the cheaper one.

I test drove the X Power... great fun, but yeah, I would end up in a field or through a wall in no time :)

£27,299

Anyone know of any cheaper? ?

And wait till the other mainstream Chinese brands hit the market. So much competition in the EV space. Hardly an MG thing.. it's called competition. The alternative is they maintain the higher price and get wiped off the map by other brands lower prices.

It's always intrigued me why people get caught up in the resale value of their car. Unless you've bought a collectable vintage Ferrari, you're car is NOT an asset. I've always seen my cars as an expense who's value depreciates year on year. After 5 years I get rid of them regardless of how much I've liked them. If I get anything back from it then that's just gravy. The next car will be purchased to fit my budget cap. If the dealership can't accommodate that then I move.
My current MG5 LR is 2 years old and I still love it. Having said that, if MG can't do a deal with me when I come to replace it, I'll walk away from them.
