I will never buy another MG ever again ?

It's always intrigued me why people get caught up in the resale value of their car. Unless you've bought a collectable vintage Ferrari, you're car is NOT an asset. I've always seen my cars as an expense who's value depreciates year on year. After 5 years I get rid of them regardless of how much I've liked them. If I get anything back from it then that's just gravy. The next car will be purchased to fit my budget cap. If the dealership can't accommodate that then I move.
My current MG5 LR is 2 years old and I still love it. Having said that, if MG can't do a deal with me when I come to replace it, I'll walk away from them.
Agree, I've never been arsed about depreciation, what the point. ??

Found, X Power's even cheaper. Brand spanking. Any colour on affinity.
2 cables. Type 2 and granny.
£27,299
Cinderford MG. ??
Anyone know of any cheaper? ?

Hendy Poole only 1 though.

I wonder if the xPower will be one of the first cars to get the solid state battery... 600 miles and lighter :devilish:.

The way Xpower buyers have been treated by MG is totally disgusting, instead of fixing issues with these cars MG have instead dropped the price by 30% in just over 9 months.

I bought an MG4 SE in 2022 and upgraded to the Xpower in 2023, MG will never get another penny out of me ever again.

Rant over ?
It’s across the whole EV sector, if we had all had a crystal ball, we would all be getting these massive discounts. You can pick up 2nd hand EV’s with less than 2years old with miles under 12k for less a third retail price, so I’m sticking to EV’s but going 2nd hand because even 30% off new is still too costly.

You think you’ve got problems. I paid £21000 3 months ago for my MG 3 + Hybrid, and I wouldn’t even get £16000 for it today.

Sad, but about right as far as I know.

You paid, what, 5 grand in vat?

Gone forever.

Caveat (I might very well be wrong)

What's new??

robertb nails it: cars aren't an 'asset' unless you are stupendously lucky and/or time your purchase with a fad-bubble just right. And Muffler's first post 'gets it' too. EV tech is changing remarkably quickly - perhaps aided by ever-more rapid/efficient science (benefiting from the accelerant of AI), engineering design and manufacturing processes, so 'obsolescence' is guaranteed from the moment you drive your new vehicle off the forecourt. Yes, you bought an obsolete car, shock horror(!) Compare this to the really very mature ice market, then add China's investment strategy, and...

fwiw; someone i know living nearby has a 2 litre Lagonda; it's been in the family some 60 years or so. It's an early 20's Le Mans 'special' race car (yes, really), so one might think is worth a lot. It probably is(!) BUT over the years the family members have spent many thousands of hours, probably in the tens of, keeping it maintained/restoring it. And the ice block is out for the umpteenth time, this time to go to be laser-welded, having had a steadily growing crack for a while. This rebuild, the most recent of many, will cost a minimum of circa £10k. If it works. If it doesn't, it's a new block (yeah, common as muck, them) and associated sorting; £30k+. Value the say, 20,000 hours 'maintenance' at Uk minimum wage, and there goes anther £200k. Cars as an investment: lol.
