If it is CarPlay dropping out, that seems to be largely phone and cable dependent.
I sat in the car with the engineer/mechanic for twenty minutes and showed how intermittent it was. We had two phones and two cables and sometimes worked first time and sometimes disconnected halfway through.

I must add it is a lot better since the software updates have been applied, but is still dropping out.

He has determined a new USB port would be next step.

Good news! (For once!) the CCU has been replaced and the car successfully charges on the slow chargers. Left overnight at the dealer on Sunday and charged to 100%. Used about 8% through the day and plugged in last night to check ours still worked, and it is back up at 100%.

However, there is still issues with the CarPlay side of things, so now they’re going to order a new USB port… let’s see if that makes any difference! Have been updated to R59 (although cruise control still jumps in 5mph blocks instead of 1mph…)
The cruise control bit is a separate module to be updated, as is the front camera etc.
They really need to follow the instructions when updating the car and apply all the updates listed.
I wish we could do these updates ourselves or indeed they were delivered OTA. :-(

You can do them yourself if you so wished, approx £100 for VCI, approx £16 for a day's access to SIPS

Where can I see about this access to SIPS?
Discussion about it here

Has anyone experienced this with the SE SR? As mine appears to be displaying the symptoms of a CCU failure, as keeps putting about 2-3kWh before stopping and the charge light when you try to restart the charge goes orange, then on the app says "please insert cable"

I've had intermittent issues with some untethered 7kW EVSE charge points, but that's using my own Tesla cable. I've had no issues at all with DC chargers, tethered AC charger points or my granny charge box/cable.

Does DC still work?

If not, you should be able to get your dealer to take you as an urgent case (can't use the car).
I've not tried DC yet, I've managed to get another 20% in the car by removing the cable and putting it back in, sat at 45% now going away for a week so will deal with when home.

I own an MG4, and like many others here, it's stopped charging properly at home. It began by only charging about 50%, and gradually, it charged less and less with each session. Now, I'm lucky if it charges even 1%. The car has been at the dealership for four weeks now, and they replaced the CCU, but couldn’t program it with the car during the first week. Once they finally managed to pair it, the issue still wasn’t resolved. The car is still at the workshop, and in the meantime, I'm driving a Xpower demo vehicle. My patience is wearing thin.

Is this a normal amount of time for a car to be in the workshop? Has anyone else experienced a CCU replacement that didn’t solve the issue? Advice for further escalation?

Red MG4 Luxury (no rear wiper), 64kWh, new in May 2023.

Edit: As with many others, it charges fine with DC

I have an MG Trophy long range, bought March 23 brand new. Had no problems with it, been to the garage for the usual service a while back, but now it will not charge on either my home charger or the granny charger. I have never used the charging schedule, just always plugged it in and it has just started charging. I am now down to 23% and the garage can't see it till December, what to do?

Does it work on a DC CCS rapid charger?
Have you tried disconnecting the negative terminal on the 12v battery for 10 minutes?

So now's the time to check on a DC rapid, n'est ce pas?

Does your charge port have pins in the L2 and L3 slots? If yes then it sounds like you may be suffering from the faulty CCU issue. (There's a big thread about this).

Thank you for your help. I am an absolute novice at all things electrical, I read the posts on this forum and don't understand most of it. I have looked at the charger and it seems that I do have an L2 and L3 slot. I think I have a fast charging point at Gatwick services, shall I try that? Is that DC as opposed to AC which is at home? will that nudge CCU into working? Much appreciate your attention to this little challenge. I was just thinking, the car did go off on the back of a lorry to have a new door fitted - i had a fight with the garage door - and came back on a lorry. It was 100% charged then, but it hasn't charged properly since. Anything to do with my current problem do you think?

The Gridserve place at Gatwick? They're DC rapid chargers and so you should try them if they're close enough to you - or choose somewhere closer. (Maybe check Zap Map). This won't nudge the CCU to start accepting AC charge, but it'll a) give you an option to at least get charge, and b) provide further evidence for your dealer regarding the issue.

The door issue is unlikely to be related to the AC charging problem.

This is the CCU thread I mentioned.

Thank you, I have had a look through that, the problem does seem similar to mine, although I have never used the app to set the charging times. I wouldn't really know how to take off the negative point on the 12v battery, so won't attempt that. I can easily get to the Gridserve point at Pease Pottage on the A 23 so will try that, thank you.
