MG4 Lane keep assist

Of course. ABS is on simple example. Taking it a step further on motorcycles, C-ABS (cornering ABS) utilising 6 axis IMUs is a definite life saver, particuarly is wet conditions. For cars, traction control in poor grip conditions has saved may accidents, a percentage of which will have been potentially fatal.
OK I pay ABS and traction control, but that's sensing what's going on with the wheels not trying to interpret, what's going on on the road ahead.

Active Cruise Control using radar is a brilliant feature on cars AND motorcycles now. It provide for a much more relaxed drive on moyorways and relaxed means less stress and less stress means less accidents, some of which would clearly be fatal.

Claims are not yet backed up by real numbers. They are mostly based on expected effects if installed, %'s of circumstances where a system could intervene (e.g. head on collissions when overtaking a car) etc.
In fact, a simulation of realistic road circumstances showed that a system using tactile and audio signals when crossing lane markers worked equally well compared to an actively steering system.

Very much worth a look, estimated reduction of fatalities for the warning alone. In America, nearly 13,000 people died in single-vehicle run-off-road, head-on, and sideswipe crashes where a passenger vehicle left the lane unintentionally in 2015 alone, (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, 2017).

Probably because they are on the wrong side of the road ?

This is in effect a "car" site , people on it are interested enough in EVs ,cars ,driving , driving standards etc so in effect are more self aware of their responsibilities and capabilities towards their own safety and that of other drivers around them at any one particular time.
As a rough guess what percentage of "other " drivers on the road ( worldwide , of any colour ,creed or religion ) who have managed to reach their countries minimum standard of competence are you happy to share road space with.
If the general public who treat driving as a right and not a privilege ( with responsibilities ) those who ,if you get into their car as a passenger make you feel justifiably nervous, have no desire to achieve better standards of driving then the governments (nanny states ) of the world have to do it for them tarring everyone with the same brush.

Oh so many topics outside MG4 LKA, i lost the point of discussion :(
So what is "final" solution? Sell MG4 because of its LKA and never buy it?

The first models were bad on their responses to inputs from the camera, this has been made better with updates and on later models. At least all versions can be turned off, but its not a clear and easy way to do and relies on taking your attention off the road if you try it whist driving.
The discussion has shifted (but still in context) to NCAP regulations if any car manufacturer wants 5 stars and why these regs are put in place , to freedom of choice and a better system to either turn ON/OFF in an easier manner.
Final solution is , buy it , before future models ( any manufacturer ) have it made compulsory and not switchable and your choice is taken away from you.

The to be delivered MG's should already be equipped with the (by EU) mandatory ISA system. Always on at the start, but it must be possible to disable. Given the poor updating frequency of the maps and the poor implementation of speed sign recognition systems, you will love it....

But if you live in Ukraine at the moment, I would buy a diesel that gets you away as far as possible from your neighbours when needed.

There's much more of a history of unknown people killing other people on the roads due to their 'old' brains.
Here's an example of a bad accident caused by computer control, wouldn't have happened without it.
From Yorkshire Hillbilly,

He thinks the MG4 LKA is safer than the EV6. Apparently the EV6 follows the car ahead if the lane marking isn't clear.

"I changed from an EV6 to an MG4 after it tried to kill me, and my passengers at 60mph on the M1.

"The LKA seemed to follow the car in front which was moving from lane 4 to lane 3. However, there was an HGV occupying lane 3 next to me and SMASH! No warnings or handing back of control and the LKA was still active even after the crash.

"It was a shame as I'd driven the same stretch of motorway twice before in the same week and it didn't have any troubles at all.

"It was beautiful, and my dream car but, ultimately I lost confidence in it and it took 10 months to get parts to fix it. I separated from my fancy wife too and couldn't afford £730 a month for a gadget compared to £320 a month I'm now paying for my orange rocket."

Difficult to understand that Alert mode also intervenes. Unless you combine it with TJA. Would be interesting to read if others experienced the same in Alert mode (without TJA!).

Could it be that the first series of the SE has different LKA modes?
Mine still intermittently grabs the wheel in alert mode, even when TJA isn't activated

I was really keen to make this my first EV. I first became aware of an LKA issue while watching Fully Charged on Friday, where Robert Llewellyn mentioned an 'annoyance' with the LKA. Thinking that it would likely annoy me too, I looked into it further, and down the rabbit hole I went. The LKA looks easy enough to turn off, but having to dig through menus every time you pull away... nah, that would annoy the hell out of me in no time, and I would likely forget from time to time.

Welcome to the forum!

There is a software update that reduces the number of steps to turn it off. Although even without the update I've just got used to doing it and don't let it bother me. The car's worth it in my opinion.

There's also an extremely heavy rumour from MG UK that there will soon be an update for the LKA that will make it a lot more civilised. Whether you'd be satisfied with that (or whether I would be) is another matter of course.

For me it is four steps if there is nothing else activated (like AA). First tap the car icon, then select MG pilot, then tap the lka toggle. Lastly, tap to confirm.

It’s not as bad as some people say

I share others frustrations and concerns with the LKA (ELK in particular). I've had some days where it barely kicks in at all and seems fine, other times it violently pulls the car to either side of the lanes even when driving straight and true - MG need to update and fix this because it is by far and away the worst thing about this car.

However turning it off before every journey isn't so much of an issue, as I just hit the "vehicle" button shortcut and turn it off there. However, the fact I have to do this at is less than ideal!
