Mine was £200 fully refundable no questions asked
Thanks, reckon I'll have to tap the dealer up for some clarification.Mine was £200 fully refundable no questions asked
I don't think you can just right off every other ev other than an MG or a Tesla, to say everything else is overpriced when a Tesla model 3 is now north of £48k is a bit of a leap.I've ordered mine and besides being alarmed by certain issues, especially the serious ones (key problem, airbag and loss of power) I am still looking forward to having it. Unfortunately, there is simply no viable alternative for this money and I don't plan on spending my money on any ICE or hybrid. As said before, if you value you money right now, then you should go for either an MG or a Tesla (or maybe a Polestar), depending on your budget. Everything else seems extremely overpriced, to me.
That doesn't mean that it's not entirely understandable that many just don't want to bother with the anxiety of all the teething problem of a new car, especially one that seems more prone to issues than many others. Teslas did have similar issues, but they also get a much better attention by the manufacturer. For instance you know that a M3 will be getting upgrades and stuff to soften any minor issues, while an MG4 is unsure to even get a proper FOTA upgrade.
I don't think the MG4 is cheap, it's just fairly priced while being a great car. If its competitors (ID.3, Cupra Born etc.) were also fairly priced they would have been at around the same price. Even then, I would have still found it hard to choose between them and I might have still gone for the MG4.I don't think you can just right off every other ev other than an MG or a Tesla, to say everything else is overpriced when a Tesla model 3 is now north of £48k is a bit of a leap.
There are loads of good EV's on the market from various manufacturers. As cocijo pointed out buying a car just because it's cheap is not the greatest recommendation, it's almost as if people are duty bound to put up with the issues because it's a "bargain"
Even taking into account cars have to be fitted for right hand drive here in the UK, that still seems like a ridiculous markup for us to pay. Leni, do you know what other factors result in the £8,000 price difference?Unfortunately a model Y in the UK start about £51k I agree for £43 that is a great deal, we don't seem to get comparable pricing to Europe in the UK
Fwiw, it's also much more expensive in Germany (56k, as far as I can see).Even taking into account cars have to be fitted for right hand drive here in the UK, that still seems like a ridiculous markup for us to pay. Leni, do you know what other factors result in the £8,000 price difference?
No idea, other than a UK tax, only thing is maybe there are still big incentives to buy EV's in the Netherlands, maybe the poster can confirm that.Even taking into account cars have to be fitted for right hand drive here in the UK, that still seems like a ridiculous markup for us to pay. Yeah, that could be one of the factors. Unfortunately, I missed out on the EV government incentive. No idea, other than a UK tax, only thing is maybe there are still big incentives to buy EV's in the Netherlands, maybe the poster can confirm that.
I think that's the case with the deal for the MG4 in Spain, there are still some good government incentives
Yes there is 4500 euros to buy an EV, a further 500 if you live in a village of less than 5000 people as I do. And 2500 if you scrap a diesel car of more than, I think 10 years. But yes it is paid to you when you declare your income tax for the next year. So could be 18 MTHS or so laterI recall @memo saying that there are incentives in Spain, but you have to jump through lots of hoops to get them ... and some don't come until 18 months later. (Pay now, hope for some refund later).
And further if you have been declared disabled of more than I believe 30% then here in Spain you only pay 4%Vat instead of the 21% normal, that on the top luxury model is like 5000 euros less as well.Yes there is 4500 euros to buy an EV, a further 500 if you live in a village of less than 5000 people as I do.
