MG4 Software Update Thread

Have you turned the sensitivity down to low? I have not had the problem since I did.

It is on Low already. I turn AEB off, leave Alerts on. This is part of my pre-flight as it doesn't remember the setting.

But it is pretty dissatisfying to be dealing with things like this after 18 months... bugs.. bugs.. bugs.. Perhaps I should insist they realign/configure it, but I really don't have the time to keep taking days off to go to the dealer.

Picked up my 4 ER today and first thing I checked once I got in was the software.
Was on R40 so waited for the dealer to come out and said that there is a new version. Went back in the workshop and 10 minutes later all done

R59.
I am unable to compare as I only just got the car this morning.
For context I have a Samsung S24 Ultra and that plays without any issues over Bluetooth. Android Auto also works very well wired.
Sound system is fantastic, far better than I imagined, and screen response feels crisp.
I do have AA wireless that I have had for a while. I have plugged it in but kept disconnecting every couple of minutes however not had a lot of time to play with it except download the latest beta, 4.1.0, and try tomorrow.

Do we have any news on the LKA update? It was supposed to be available mid-august...

It's probably the last major annoyance that I would like fixed. Everything else is working much better than before my mid-August service. The radio still occasionally doesn't find DAB on start up but at a much lower frequency, likewise the bluetooth pairing error happens about one time in 10, rather than 1 in 2. Not that that's excusable... I've not had a single rogue AEB activation since the update though, which has been an extremely welcome change.

It has all gone very quiet on the LKA front.

Mine does emergency stops when turning right (it sees oncoming traffic and thinks there will be a collision). It doesn't happen all the time but is often enough to be problem.

I'm stuck with the official fix I have been given which is to turn it off every drive.

Same here - only (most) in right corners / oncoming trucks

Another one: you cannot turn off the light of the infotainment on R59, whereas you could do it with previous ones (disable "show clock"). It stays black, but with all the screen light bleeding

If you mean Safety - vehicle power, it does leave it on including driver screen. Both should go off.

Click the Settings cog on the screen and then the version can be seen in one of the menus.

In my Trophy I have set Forward Collision to Medium and Alert + AEB and Rear Collision to Alert. The settings do not change between drives. I have a number of Forward Collision alerts but no braking events.

When I got a 23 demo MG4 and I insisted for all the software to be updated before delivery.

The MPU Software version is shown in settings is - SWI131-2995801100R05

The services guys said they have done all the software updates.
Was i being lied to or is this the latest?

No, I mean the eye from the drop down menu; turn off screen.
If you have enabled "show clock" in the system settings, a big analog clock will be displayed when you press the eye on the drop-down menu.
If you have disabled "show clock" in the system settings, the screen used to turn off completely when you pressed the eye; not in R59, where the screen turns black, but the backlight remains on.

I suspect this is MG4 with 54 kWh battery (MG4 SE). The latest version of Infotainment MPU for it is R33, not R05.

I've just had the infotainment updated to R33 on my phase 1 SE. Some improvements including outside temp back, but Android Auto no longer works - was perfectly OK before. Same phone and cable, and also tried 6 other cables! Phone says it's connected but the car doesn't recognise it. Any...

If it’s an Excite, then yes R05 (unfortunately) is the latest infotainment version in AU/NZ. If it’s an Essence, the latest is R11.

But the two subsequent software updates that fix phantom braking and give you OPD aren’t shown on that screen. Look in the “Driving” screen for one-pedal driving, and see if your ACC changes in 1kmh increments with a short and 5kmh with a long push up to know if you have the other update.
