MG4 Software Update Thread

Handed in my MG4 Luxury 2022 at its annual service in Sweden. I pointed out that several faults such as LKA, Bluetooth, camera, cruise control etc. Then the technician said it takes longer to troubleshoot, so I will update everything. Update took a whole day.
Now I've driven a few hundred miles on small roads and big roads. LKA works fine. I don't see any need to turn off LKA. LKA just works! The new behaviour of LKA is, it pulls the steering wheel a little softly if I get close to a line, just as it should. I'm very happy.
And the camera for reading speed signs do not miss so often. Much better!

What's version of your Infotainment System? Could you please share the list of modules that was updated?

Infotainment system: SWI68-29958-1300R46 (got R46 this spring/winter)
Service center updated all modules. Techician sad that he downloaded the latest from MG. And I can tell, the car is super great now! It just works!

So, I insisted on having my 2024 build Trophy upgraded to the latest software version as a condition of purchase and received it today after reminding the salesperson a couple of times that I really wanted the latest software as I have never found an LKA that didn't really annoy me.

So on delivery I couldn't find the menu shortcut for LKA. I looked and I am on infotainment software version R40. I live a few hours away from the dealer I bought this from. How can I get onto a newer version of software? Is it possible to turn LKA off by voice command? I tried but couldn't find a command that was understood.

You can not. You need four 'very safe actions' to disable it in the menu under mg pilot.

On a German forum, someone upgraded his EU MG4 Trophy with R59 from a UK source.
It seems the display works better, charge planning was added, the + character in the phone numbers is now imported correctly, and Amazon Music seems to work again..
Not sure how many of you use or used Amazon Music, but here in the Netherlands R59 was put on hold because it blocked access to Amazon Music. It seems it not longer does so.

Definitely a deja vu moment here. Exact same experience/conversations/assurances and guess what - still received it with R40. ?

It strikes me as pretty awesome. I am tempted to do it in order to get the LKA assist toggle. However I would prefer for dealers to be more forthcoming. MG really needs to make getting SW updates something that is less painful for dealers and customers. They would get much better satisfaction scores by making this single change in policy.

The display is pointing in the right direction. Otherwise I am happy, two small bugs: Hotspot doesn't work (known) and the weather tile doesn't work or is that the server's fault? iSmart works

I noticed that the weather widget doesn't work for the last three maybe more days. I'm guessing a server error or maybe they are actually fixing something?

I just now tried more network-y things and nothing works
I press the MG touchpoint button and it doesn't find any dealer also gives an error.
Detecting for a new update also gives a network error.

It seems like their whole network server is down and the car can't connect at all to it.

Yes this is working. It needs a reload most of the times though but this has been happening forever.

Whatever is going on with the mg network it doesn't affect the app

It was problem-free, no star key bug or anything like that! What I immediately noticed:

“Faster” boot animation, generally faster reaction of the infotainment

sometimes different dialogs: "Please plug in the charging port to charge" wasn't that called something else on the R46?

quick access to switch off LKA (pulldown menu)

Charging planning is only possible on the second page, nothing is planned directly in the navigation system

+49 Bug seems to be gone too

Amazon Music is working again!

The only disadvantage is that the hotspot really doesn't work, but I personally have never needed it.

How long did the update take?
