Hi everyone,
I conducted an interesting experiment today and wanted to share some findings.
I installed SWI186-29958-1100R14, a release originally designed for Thailand.
As expected, this version is highly specific and isn’t practical for daily use. Many (quirks and) features are non-functional because I couldn’t connect to a local iSmart account. I also didn’t risk installing the relevant MCU update, which may explain some of the other non-functional features.
What really surprised me was how smooth the interface felt, completely lag-free, with fluid animations and an overall polished experience. The interface, as shown in the picture, is similar yet different, with a much more refined design. I think the font looks better as well!
This localised version does come with limitations:
- No DAB support.
- Available languages are limited to Thai and English.
Some features didn’t work, perhaps because I didn’t want to upgrade the MCU (or due to other factors):
- Rear sensors beep as they should but don’t display anything.
- Day/night mode is non-functional.
Due to activation issues:
- Maps are included but they won’t start.
- Weather doesn’t work.
- All local bundled stuff don’t work either
This version was interesting to test, but it’s clearly not suitable for everyday use in other places than Thailand. That’s just a glimpse of what our system could be.
