Speeding. ?☹

You're not allowed to do 26 in a 20 zone. They may overlook it, but it's discretionary.
"Police guidelines say enforcement will be targeted on drivers travelling 10% above the speed limit - plus 2mph," he said.
"For now this will be increased to 10% plus 4mph meaning we start to prosecute at 26mph in a 20mph limit."

A great way to have your car impounded.
Tongue was firmly planted in cheek, coupled with the fact you can get anything from AliExpress ( apart from black copyright infringed MG badges apparently).

Personally I'm of the opinion it's a limit, not a target. Exceed it, get caught, suck it up.
I had 4 speeding offences in quick succession in '99, all of which qualified for a "yebbut" scenario ( apart from the 150 on the M54 on my bike that got me 3 points and £40 - ah, those were the days ) . I eventually learnt that no means no.

Where did you get that? We've had a number of links to guidelines talking about 10% plus 2 mph (which is what I always thought it was) or 10% plus 1 mph (which is what I heard more recently), and also reports of police forces who simply say, these are guidelines, we don't have to pay any attention, you're nicked sunshine. Not heard about anyone running on 10% plus 4 mph and the wording sounds like it's recent and perhaps temporary.

Still just guidelines. They can do you for anything over the limit, if they feel like it. To certain definitions of "they". I suspect it's a high-up decision, and that individual cops who keep running in drivers for a couple of mph over the limit in an authority which has decided to allow some leeway will be told to stop wasting everyone's time.

You're not "allowed" to do anything over the limit. They may let you away with a small transgression, and they usually do, but it doesn't mean it's not a breach of the limit.

That's the whole problem with the guidelines in Wales . Nobody knows what's happening along with most people ignoring it anyway . Also there are some plain stupid changes like the speed limit changing from 20 to 30 for about 10 yards and then back to 20

Weirdly, we have exactly the same thing in Scotland, and nobody is bitching about it so's you'd notice. The stupidities I see were caused by complaints persuading them to revert some short stretches to 30, when they were fine the way they were. But there hasn't been an uprising or anything.

Done for speeding at the end of February.
And let me make this clear straight off.
No excuses, was speeding, got caught, got done. End of. 🙄
87 mph on a 60 mph road.
East Lancs Rd (Dual carriageway)
No Cameras, No speed van. So I'm presuming probably a Motorcycle Cop, parked up on foot. I've saw a few lately.
But that's irrelevant, really. To be honest I think you're just unlucky if you get caught.
Got the notice to prosecute letter. It said too serious for the usual instant fine/points. Would have to go to the Magistrates court. 🙄 Got the result yesterday. 6 points on licence and £156 costs, consisting of £40 fine and £116 costs. So 9 points total on licence. 🙄
Have to say, it's slowed me down a bit. And I'm a lot more wary, where I open the X Power up. 🙁

At close to 50% over the limit, you're probably lucky to still be driving Salty, I'm not surprised it's slowed you down a bit, still bad luck for you though. :(

Thought that meself, Clive. Ya takes ya chance, as they say. I'm blaming the X Power. 🙄🤪🙂

The trouble with dual carriageways are that when they are quiet , they are tempting to give it a few beans. Although I thought that some of the East Lancs was 70mph where the junctions were widely spaced , which wouldn't sound as bad. Its difficult to sound positive about it and you'll need a bit of restraint when a Golf GTI or other meets you at a red light and tries giving you the eye. o_O

You probably got some credit for past good behaviour. Speaking as someone who once went for 2 years and 9 months with 11 points on her licence (two ordinary speeding transgressions and one 5-pointer for doing 90 on a motorway in my XR2 because another XR2 was giving me the eye), you either learn to restrain yourself, or you don't. I suggest you do!

The worst I ever heard of was a guy on a motorbike who was caught doing 162 mph on a single carriageway 60-limit road. He was jailed. At the time, I had my mother at home saying "they sent him to prison just for speeding!" and Calum at work (ex-policeman) saying "he was doing 102 mph above the limit! Throw away the key!"

Somehow, I managed to drive a Golf GTi for almost 14 years without picking up a single point in that car.

ETA: Salty, I just realised you were the OP of this thread so you got 3 points a year ago too. No past good behaviour! You really, really have to be on your best behaviour (or seriously on your guard) from now on, you don't have any lives left.

Yep if it has repeater signs for 60 then you are toast. They should be every I think 200 yards, but often they get nicked for big birthdays. If so you have a chance.
