Tesla Charging Update, ZS EV, Free or Not Any Official Guide?

I asked the salesman as we have bought 3 cars from him so I am not excepting a bill and certainly won’t be paying for it
I totally agree, but I am 100% sure that the service department will be asking the sales department to pick up the bill for the time taken !.
Unless they can get MG to pay for it of course.
Although both departments work under the same roof and the same dealership name, they are normally run as two completely separate entities.
It was the same when I worked in a large dealership many moons ago.
Some things never change ?.

I too had heard MG had written to dealerships stating the Tesla SW update should be free. My Trophy Connect was in for its first service at the end of March. I was quoted £100 for the update so declined (I charge away from home a couple of times a month). I would still like to get the update.

I will be very interested to see how @Rutsy gets on with his claim

Question for the Mods is if we could put a poll up to see who has been charged for the update and those that got it free?
Nothing new to report. Still waiting for Motor Ombudsman to initiate the arbitration it's agreed to conduct.. I've chased them but no response to that either.

Fortunately it is a family owned dealership that I have used for many years and they are ‘normally’ very good. We will see next week

So, I have a 2022 SR. I went to a tesla charger yesterday, I didn't know anything about not connecting to to them. Used their app, no problems. I've had two yearly services. Have I missed something or is it not an issue with the 2022 zs anyhow?

You have the fix, you are all good.

Update on Tesla charging, just been to Trafford Centre no problem charging.
results.
14 kWh
23 minutes charge time
Cost £8.82
63p Per kWh
Trafford centre is more expensive than other Tesla chargers, but it’s all down to its location.

was it working on Tesla before the dealers updates ?

My second service isn’t till next March so why should I have to wait until then when it could be done now, also why wasn’t it done on my last?service,
Think MG only doing things when people start complaining as I did because they didn’t no anything about it until I showed them the email I received from Miles Roberts saying it’s update under warranty

My 2nd year Service is due tomorrow. I informed the Dealership that when I tried Tesla charger a few times it did not work and could I have it fixed.
I was informed needs a software update costing £60 +VAT.
They have received instructions directly from MG that it is not a free service and is chargeable.
They will show me the documentation when I drop the car in the morning.
I find this shocking ?

Hi all I have just come across this thread and you appear to be writing about the MGZS EV now that I know nothing about but in the podcast on March the 4th I think it was ability for changing at open to all Tesla units that was concerning the MG5, now a don’t know if the ZS can charge on Tesla SC or not and I don’t recall Miles Robert’s or anyone else saying the ZS came under the same response from MG that covers the MG5.

There’s is a thread that covers this issue on the MG5 it’s called Tesla supercharging on the MG5 and at #472 there is a copy of the Email which explains about it
Les
We seems to have glossed over @Les burrows post. Others actually an update for the ZS EV

Join the club. I've taken out a case with the motor ombudsman, but still waiting for the case to be considered.

With all due respect to Les, who is very helpful
There's not a copy of a letter from MG, it's a transcript of an email from an individual at an MG dealership
Both Les and Miles are top guys, who I trust what they say, but do you really think that a typed note on a forum about an MG5, would have any leverage on another dealer regarding a ZS? I have yet to see a service bulletin, with a reference number that can be quoted

When my ZS was recently serviced, I requested 3 times in advance that the "warranty update, that corrects charging issues, eg Tesla, was applied"
They didn't question this, they said that they've applied all relevant updates during the service, but were too inept to be able to say exactly which updates! Certainly something was done, as some of my settings were back to default. I've yet to try a Tesla supercharger (either before or after the service)
