The SE 1100R38 Infotainment Thread

Brought my MG4 for its first service to a MG service point, made a list of all the common faults I could find on the internet just to make sure they would update all the software.
And when I picked up the car they updated the software to R38 (car came with R13), what a difference! They also updated some other components and recalibrated them if needed (camera/radar/TBOX). What a difference! LKA and ACC feels more mature now, no abrupt braking or steering corrections.
OPD seems to work directly now with the cold weather (normally it would take about 20 minutes before I could use it).
It might be my imagination but I think they also boosted the volume of the radio. Seems like it can get a lot louder now (and I also have the 3D sound option)

Trying to get the wording of an email right to send to ensure mine is updated in an upcoming service. Which common faults did you mention specifically?

-Left favorite/star button needs to be reassigned every 10 days or something
-Bluetooth connection doesn't always connect automatically
-LKA can be unpredictable
-ACC is very harsh
-OPD isn't directly available

Those are the most common problems (which I also experienced)

My SE SR is coming up to 2 years end January and is currently still at R13. So I am interested in what you say is the difference between it and R38 please.

Update:

No Turkish language option
No door auto-lock option
The theme remained at Dark even after to set the "welcome" lights option on ... one to keep an eye on.

Under the Sound settings there's a 3D Sound option (with selections of Driver and something else meaning the whole car). I don't remember that option being there previously, but maybe it was.
@siteguru
From what you describe above, turning off the “Welcome Home Lights”, allows the dark background screen to become the default. Even when you switch the “Welcome Home Lights” Back on. Is this correct?

I am having the same issue since the update from R13 to R38. Wanting to default to the Dark Background light from start up, but following the above doesn’t seem to work. I have reduced the “Background setting to the minimum which makes the Light option a bit darker.

That was only my theory ... since I did that experiment (and maybe another one suggested - I haven't read back in the thread) I've no longer had any such issues.

3D sound is now an option on the SE/Standard??

Had my 2nd service today ... all was done as expected, except the rear undertray support as the parts weren't in - I'm getting that done next Thursday.

This is what's listed on my invoice:

As can be seen my FICM has been updated to 1100R38 (as well as some other module updates). :)

Confirmation of the Infotainment update can be seen below:

There's nothing obviously different (that I've seen so far) vs 1100R33, other than the external temperature may have lost the 0.5°C increment ... to be clarified. (Temperature driving home was showing as 11°C ... I can't remember if R33 showed 11.0°C or not).

There is one obvious foible though - again to be monitored and clarified - set the theme to Dark mode (before or after the READY state, makes no difference), get out of the car, get back in and press the brake pedal and the screen reverts to Light theme. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

If I spot anything else I'll update here. If you have any questions on things for me to look at please ask. :)

PS ... SOH was reported as 93%, which concurs with what I saw via Car Scanner.
@siteguru - I had my second service yesterday - unfortunately they didn't update my SE LR infotainment from R33, despite me mentioning at booking in (admitted 5 minutes after initial booking in) and being promised that it would be checked and updated if necessary, but Eden MG Swindon did apply the SC077 update, so LKA is much improved. However I noticed that my MCU software is still on 69.3.8.0 - is this something that should have been updated when they applied SC077? It's been on that version of the MCU software since before I was upgraded to R33 infotainment I think. Cheers, Tom.

Mine was 69.3.8.0 on getting 1100R33. I don't remember what it was when I had 1100R13 as I can't find any photos from that time. 69.4.4.0 only happened when I got 1100R38
