I guess that's ok until the car door lock or handle freeze shut. For frozen charger flaps or anything else that ices up, simply carry a 12V hair dryer in the car that has a cigarrete lighter adaptor. Cheap and small enough to fit in the glove box. Remove it come spring time.
What, now you want heated door handles as well .... where will it all endI guess that's ok until the car door lock or handle freeze shut.![]()
The problem with warming the car by getting into it first is that you can't then get out and lock the car - if you do that the HVAC turns off. With the app the car remains locked at all times until you unlock it.![]()
Can they drive off in it, though. Without the key in the car. Even if they knew about pressing the brake pedal first.![]()
Try it and see. After sitting in the drivers seat go and put the key well away from the car, then try and drive the car away.
And not illegal like doing it in an ice! Good to know.Experimented this morning. Usual routine went out, booted up the car, by pressing on the seat. Heater on full. Heated Steering wheel and seat on. Went back in finished me Coffee. Went back out, left the key in the house. Car would not move, without the key in the car. So result!
Safe to leave it warming up, without it getting nicked!![]()
Ok, buy 2 of them, they're very cheap, from around €10 from Aliexpress, keep one at home and the other in the car. Or just keep one on the boot of the car which is unlikely to freeze shut.I guess that's ok until the car door lock or handle freeze shut.![]()
How do you do that? Can it be done with the MG4 long range?I would have simply used the app to remote defrost (with the car locked)![]()
My gripe with the app is that you cannot switch on the rear screen/door mirror heaters. Seems like an omission to me.
Heated wheel option missing - meh! It takes no time to warm up anyway, I don't miss that.
Very grateful for this trick - this week we had to do TWO early morning trips to A & E. Now typing from my hospital bed but hopefully getting Sepsis beaten.First Frost of the year, this morning, and quite a sharp one, too. The car was White. First Frost for my X Power. So sat in the car, powered it up. Heating on full, blower on full. Heated Steering wheel and seat on. And Heated rear window on. Back in the house, finished me Coffee. 5 mins later, back out. Car totally frost free, car inside, lovely and Toasty. Drove off. Brilliant!![]()

Thanks, this is what a community is for. Veet lucky to have support of wife 2 daughters, one son -in-law and grandsons, and friends.Oh crikey. I'm in hospital too, though not with sepsis.
Yes, I sincerely hope you are beating that bu99er over the head with a 5h177y stick.
Hoping you have some support at your end (friends/ relatives) who can visit you and keep your pecker up.
