This is a key area where MG is going wrong - different versions for variants of the same car is crazy, no wonder dealers don't want to mess with things. The core hardware should be mostly the same.Agreed. Please keep Trophy software comments and queries out of this thread and in either a new thread or the main Software Updates thread.
R33 for SE came out before R59 for trophy but has the same change, adding shortcut for LKAThis is a key area where MG is going wrong - different versions for variants of the same car is crazy, no wonder dealers don't want to mess with things. The core hardware should be mostly the same.
Do we even know if R33 for the SE is feature parity with latest R59 (e.g: OPD, latest menu shortcuts, ACC 5 mile increments etc)?
I presume R59 is also latest for the Trophy then (as Xpower derived from it) - e.g: two versions R33, R59?
There are some key difference we have been trying to establish. In 11R0033 you can switch off the car from the drop down nenuThis is a key area where MG is going wrong - different versions for variants of the same car is crazy, no wonder dealers don't want to mess with things. The menu dropdown overlay does not work for R59 in CarPlay view. You need to press Home button, which is why we need a CarPlay/AAuto option for shortcut buttons and maybe even a dedicated hardware button for future updates. I repeatedly asked R59 owners to verify how the drop down menu and other overlays work in Apple CarPlay with no answer.
If the overlay change comes to 1100Rxx I want to know how will CarPlay be affected as it’s essential for SE owners to access navigation apps
MG really should standardise on the one version.R33 for SE came out before R59 for trophy but has the same change, adding shortcut for LKA
ACC increment is a different firmware
As far as I know the SE doesn't have OPD
My workaround when they removed the CarPlay shortcut option in R33 was to use Siri and ask to open MapsThe menu dropdown overlay does not work for R59 in CarPlay view. My workarounds works when not able to take hands off the wheel like a shortcut wouldIf I'm not on the Home screen then I simply press the home button then the AA button. ?![]()

Just rang my local MG garage (Southport). They are saying the earliest they can book it in is the first week in October! What's people's experiences with their local MG dealers and booking in?

R46 doesn't have power off

Neither does R59

Unlikely to add overlay feature as they've removed it for a reason

If you have any requests for photos etc for differences just ask
It was relevant as I asked whether r59 did something to the overlay system: if this Android update comes to the SE, it’s going to be pain so important to know.Could we please keep this thread for the SE infotainment system. There are other threads dealing with the Trophy, and it's very confusing when they're mixed up. That was the reason this thread was started in the first place.
I wonder if SE 1100R33 uses a different Android version vs 1300R59? On the SE the overlay/pulldown menu works just fine when AA is being shown.
@Rolfe you just long press the Pilot button to switch between TJA and ACC (steering wheel button)
I think I said this. That was the assumption, given that so many things are not controlled by the infotainment.Someone further up said categorically that the change in sensitivity of the light sensor was not a feature of R33. I rather think it is. I had all the other updates done in April and the light sensitivity was unchanged. Now I've got R33 it has changed very noticeably. I'll have to experiment with which of the two alternative covers I have works best now.
